Hobart might be one of the windiest cities in Australia, but don’t worry, your clothes won’t fly away if you pop them into a charity bin! There are heaps of charities in Hobart that would love to take your donated goods.
Even though Hobart spreads out a bit, you’re never too far from a spot to drop off your donations. The Hobart CBD and suburbs like Sandy Bay, New Town, West Moonah, and Rosny Park have plenty of charity bins and second-hand stores.
Charities like Lifeline, St Vincent De Paul (or Vinnies, as most folks know them), Red Cross, and The Salvation Army (or Salvos) are all active in Hobart and around Tasmania. Just a heads up, though—while they all welcome clothes with open arms, not every place can take things like electrical appliances, homewares, or linen. If you’ve got something that’s not clothes, it’s a good idea to ring them first to check if they can take it.
